The links seems to have been cut-off so I went and found them and posted the rtf version here and the pdf here.

As for the anonymous poster, thanks for making me laugh. it's funny you said that Movimiento had nothing to do with Kessner's move, especially since just months before he moved Kessner boasted to the Village Voice: "I'm not selling...No one is forcing me out of the neighborhood I helped build. This particular problem with this group has been my only headache. Listen, I like this neighborhood. I have four sons in the business and we're going to grow. I'm going to finish my job."

Hmmm...looks like his "only headache" turned into a migraine! It's no surprise, of course, that the properties passed from the hands of one capitalist -Kessner- to another -Dawnay, Day- with its own plans for gentrification...if you'd read my article you'd have seen that Movimiento understands well that they've won a big battle and that the struggle for El Barrio continues...Oh, and it seems you think settlers and capitalists from Europe have a "right to" this land. LOL!

Per my policy on haters, especially anonymous ones (see intro post) you'll probably get deleted next time (although posting with your real name might help your chances)...

-RJRJ Maccanihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11330027127067847774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31268138.post-68755066708376527222007-06-24T10:54:00.000-04:002007-06-24T10:54:00.000-04:00Oaxaca, Sunday 24 June 2007 I found Maccani's...Oaxaca, Sunday 24 June 2007
I found Maccani's account truly inspirational. The power of ordinary people assembling is being manifested here in Oaxaca and elsewhere in the world. A new book, Getting Free explains why it is such a powerful mode of popular struggle. The book, 2007 Edition, is available as a rich text format (rtf) file at
http://site.www.umb.edu/faculty/salzman_g/Strate/GetFre/5thEd/PrintEd.rtf
and as a pdf file at
http://site.www.umb.edu/faculty/salzman_g/Strate/GetFre/5thEd/PrintEd.pdf
It's clear why the hack who posted the previous comment chose to remain anonymous.
Sincerely,
George
george.salzman (at) umb.eduAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31268138.post-88670482164726565742007-06-24T08:04:00.000-04:002007-06-24T08:04:00.000-04:00What a joke; that this rag tag group of illegal al...What a joke; that this rag tag group of illegal aliens forced Kessner to sell out of his East Harlem portfolio. I suppose that the fact he got $225,000,000 for his buildings had nothing to do with it. If living conditions were so bad in his buildings, how did Steven Kessner get 14 times the rent roll? The Movement for Justice in El Barrio consists of about 25 illegal aliens that are overcrowding and living in their apartments illegally and are trying to use the media to prevent their legal evictions. They have lost East Harlem and beyond because they have no right to it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
